Intro & New Features
For 2024, Bauer introduces the new M40 hockey skate: a mid-line variation in their transition from the Supreme S-series to the M-series of skates. This skate includes many performance-enhancing technologies for a variety of players at a more affordable price point. Tech of note includes the Digi Comp quarter package, MotionFlexMAX technology, the Aerofoam ankle padding, and the Form Fit footbed.
Skate Fit Profile
The M40 Junior skate comes in sizes 1-3.5 Full and Half sizes and D and EE widths. D size is more of a standard width, whereas EE fits a bit wider for larger feet. When deciding on a skate size, a good rule of thumb is to take the player’s shoe size and drop it by 1 or 1.5 sizes. Although the Junior size skate is a bit more flexible, Supreme family skates are classified as stiffer than Vapor family skates.
Boot Construction & Stiffness Profile
The Digi Comp boot keeps the skates’ performance competitive without making it too stiff and difficult to skate in.Exclusive to the Junior and Youth-sized variations of the M4, MotionFlexMAX facing indicates specific zones in between the second, third, and fourth eyelets with increased forward flex for a more enhanced range of motion. Instead of having to sacrifice the use of the top eyelet, MotionFlexMAX offers the same effect while allowing you to tie the skates all the way to the top for better support. This tech is an improved version of the previous generation MotionFlex.
Liner/Internal Padding
For the M40, Bauer used a sublimated hydrophobic microfibre liner along the inside to wick away moisture and repel odour while you play. Including this kind of liner ensures that you stay comfortable in your skates all game long without the potential distraction of a wet boot. There is also Aerofoam Technology in the ankle padding, a returning high-end tech designed a bit thicker than conventional foam but is more form-fitting and thermoformable.
Toe Cap
The M40 skate uses a standard toe cap to keep the construction simple and to accommodate a wider variety of foot shapes and sizes.
Tongue
The tongue is made of an updated 48oz pro stock felt material with an injected metatarsal guard. This combination of comfort and protection is designed to form fit around and over the metatarsus area for extra coverage, and the thick felt coupled with the tough exterior help shield the front ankle area of your foot from harm while you play.
Insoles
The skates use a Form Fit footbed complete with memory foam for premium comfort on the landing.
Steel Runner, Holder & Blade Profile
The Bauer Supreme M40 Junior Hockey Skates use the TUUK Lightspeed Edge holder paired with the LS Balance blade with a 13 foot radius, this helps making gliding and balancing on the ice much easier.
Sizes
The Bauer Supreme M40 Junior Hockey Skates come in sizes 1-3.5 (full & half). These skates are available in D & EE widths.
